SINSINAWA, Wis.—Sister Patricia Henschel, OP, died Jan. 24, 2019. Her religious name was Sister Jarett. The funeral Mass was held at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Feb. 1, 2019, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
Sister Pat made her first religious profession as a Sinsinawa Dominican Aug. 5, 1951, and her perpetual profession Aug. 5, 1954. She taught at the elementary, middle, and collegiate levels for 28 years and served in educational administration for 20 years and as assistant prioress of St. Dominic Villa for two years. She served in Montana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and California.
In the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings, Sister Pat taught at Little Flower School at St. Mary Parish (now Mary Queen of Peace Parish), Billings, 1951-1953.
Sister Pat was born Jan. 5, 1931, in Milwaukee, the daughter of August and Margaret (Tobin) Henschel. Her parents; two sisters, Mary Delaney and Jeanette Rogers; and two brothers, Thomas Henschel and Gerald Henschel, preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared 67 years of religious life.
