For the 4th year in a row since 1991, Memorial Day mass will be celebrated in the McLaughlin Chapel located in the center of Mount Olivet Cemetery. Last year mass had to be cancelled due to the Corona Virus outbreak. This year Bishop Warfel will be the celebrant and mass will begin at 10:00am. Any updates or changes to this schedule will be posted in the church bulletins.

Mother’s Day & Memorial Day are fast approaching, and Mount Olivet Cemetery is going to be in full swing. The McLaughlin Chapel will be open Memorial Day through Labor Day, Monday to Friday. All are welcome to enter the Chapel and enjoy the stained-glass windows of Sister Trinitas, sit and meditate or just enjoy the environment. If anyone is interring a loved one and would like to schedule the chapel for their committal service, please contact Eric Spragg at the cemetery office for available times and cost. Also, In the center of the chapel and in front of the altar, is a beautiful devotional candle stand, donated to Mount Olivet by Catholics for Life, in memory of Fr. Ray Nyquist. Feel free to light a candle in memory of a loved one. All donations go towards purchasing additional candles for future use.

A new section of the cemetery (section G) has opened within the last year at Mount Olivet and burials have already begun to take place. It is an upright monument section and accommodates family gravesites to include either 2 or 4 graves. Section G is located across the road from the cemetery office at the northeast corner of the cemetery. Several gravesites have been purchased in reserve and the popularity of the location is growing. Last summer a line of trees was freshly planted on the east border of the section and are maturing nicely.

For those interested in pre-planning their burial needs, or if any school or group is interested in scheduling a tour or field trip to either Mount Olivet or Calvary Cemetery, please contact Eric Spragg, Family service Advisor, Eric at 406-453-8251.
