By Eric Spragg, Family service Advisor Mount Olivet & Calvary Cemeteries

For the 3rd year in a row since 1991, Memorial Day mass is being celebrated in the McLaughlin Chapel located in the center of Mount Olivet Cemetery. Bishop Warfel will be the celebrant and mass will begin at 10:00am. Depending on the status of the Coronavirus outbreak, Mass may or may not be cancelled. This information will be updated in the church bulletins.

Mother’s Day & Memorial Day are fast approaching, and Mount Olivet Cemetery is going to be in full swing. The McLaughlin Chapel will be open Memorial Day through Labor Day Mon.-Fri. from 9:00am to 5:00pm. All are welcome to enter the Chapel and enjoy the stained-glass windows of Sister Trinitas, sit and meditate or just enjoy the environment.

If anyone has any questions regarding decorating guidelines, there are brochures placed throughout the cemetery. The main guidelines to be aware of are to make sure that decorations are not glass or of glass type material. No antlers, rebar, rocks, coins, marbles, etc. are to be placed on graves. These items can break, inflicting harm to people and wildlife and, can also cause property & equipment damage especially to lawn mowers and tractor tires. We strive to keep Mount Olivet a safe cemetery for all to enjoy.

Anyone who is interested in pre-planning their burial needs or may just have questions, are encouraged to contact Eric Spragg at 406-453-8251. Grave location services are also available for both cemeteries. Office hours are Mon. – Fri. 8:30-5:00, unless otherwise noted, and Saturday by appointment.
