When was the last time you heard the good shepherd’s voice? Maybe it was in mass and the gospel or reading of the day seemed to speak directly to you. Perhaps the sermon spoke to you. Maybe you aren’t sure if you actually hear God calling.
Growing up Catholic and attending mass regularly I felt I had a close relationship with God. But I would also fret about whether I was answering God’s call and doing his will. I felt I was missing something, that there was more. Through Cum Christo I found that answer and a deepening of my faith.
Attending a Cum Christo is not simply attending a weekend or an event. It is another step in our faith journey. Our faith, like any growing thing, must be nurtured and fed. That is what Cum Christo did for me. It brought my faith to life. It provided a community of believers, all on our own journeys to deepen our faith and support each other. Cum Christo has been an important part of transforming my faith foundation from an obligation into a journey; of deepening my previously made commitment to God into a relationship with Christ. It is helping me turn my faith into action.
An attendee had this to say: “During the Cum Christo weekend I became a family member of the body of Christ. I gained friends that love and support me through my journey of faith with Christ. Through Jesus and their apostolic works, they made me feel whole. I never experienced that before and did not quite know what to expect. I try to do everything by myself, but I just can’t and every now and again Christ has to remind me “I know you can’t Karen, but We can.” I finally realized that “We” means all of us as one family in Christ. I never in my wildest dreams ever thought that I, a black sheep, would belong to a beautiful group of lovely Christian women. During the weekend you can actually feel the presence of Christ all around filling the entire place up with peace, love and joy. As you focus on Christ you soon get a feeling of deep reverence for our divine savior. God sent me back the next year to work in the background at Cum Christo. Sister Regina said it is a call to evangelize. A chance to show my gratitude and pay it forward to those who worked the last year’s Cum Christo. A chance to bless all the new candidates and pray that they will feel the love and support like I did and hopefully become a member of this awesome Catholic Family in Christ.” – Karen P.
People at all stages of their journey can feel welcome at a Cum Christo. Jesus takes us right where we are. He is always calling us to follow Him but we don’t always hear his voice and answer His call. Do you hear his voice? Are you ready to answer His call, to follow Him?
Please pray about attending a Cum Christo. Come see where Christ leads you!
