Early this spring, on a Saturday, 9 of the 15 participants (pictured) from Just Faith, at Holy Spirit Parish, traveled to St. Paul’s Mission in Hays stpaulmission.org. They met with Senior Director of Parish Life, Kenneth Cramer, M.A. and Director of Religious Education, Laura Cramer. They shared a meal with the community and learned about life on the Fort Belknap Reservation in both Hays and Lodge Pole.
Just Faith immerses a group of people into the social issues, challenges, and successes of our times. Participants meet over 24 or more weeks reading, praying, watching, listening, and discussing. As the program comes to a close, individuals and/or small groups may become involved in larger social justice issues.
The individuals in the group pictured are currently discerning their level of involvement for the future. Past Just Faith groups at Holy Spirit have promoted projects that are still going strong: Fellowship Dinners, Recycling, and more. Larger community projects like Family Promise and Kiva reach many more of God’s children and in a profound way. Holy Spirit plans to have another Just Faith experience, training, and immersion in the coming 2016-17 year.
