Originally from Portland Oregon, Dan arrived in Great Falls, Montana in January 1973 when he was assigned to Malmstrom AFB as his first duty station.
After his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1976, Dan attended the University of Montana for 2 years and subsequently completed his bachelor’s degree in business management from Northern Montana College (MSU-Northern).
Dan has over thirty years of human resource experience including Director of Labor Relations and Personnel for Buttrey Food & Drug and starting up the Human Resource Department for DA Davidson Companies as the Vice President, Director of Human Resources and subsequently Senior Vice President, Director of Community Relations. He also spent a short time with Great Falls Pre-Release Services to start up their Human Resource Department.
Dan and his wife Diane were married in Glasgow, Montana at St. Raphael Catholic Church in August 1981 (officiated by Father Greg Staudinger).
The McLaughlin’s have three grown children and five grandchildren (four boys and one girl ages 8 to 23). Number six grandchild (girl) is on the way and due to arrive in September 2023.
Outside of the office, Dan enjoys the Oregon Coast, golfing and in his younger day’s running marathons having competed in the Boston Marathon on three occasions. Dan also enjoys assisting his neighbors with various yard work projects.
