The Big Sky Cum Christo is a movement that has been in the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings for more than fifty years. There seems to be an air of mystery, and at times, misinformation regarding a Cum Christo weekend. Cum Christo is an encounter with Christ. It sounds too simple, but it is not. Imagine the power, the beauty, and the joy of a real meeting with Christ. It is a time where we become aware of our spiritual needs and the role of God in our lives.
A Cum Christo weekend gives those attending a living understanding of basic Christian truths. The weekends are designed to help the participants realize the need for Jesus and His message to Christianize our environments. It also provides a means to continue our Christian formation, which began on the three day Cum Christo weekend.
The Cum Christo weekend leads us to find what role we are invited to play in Christ’s Church and how to be His disciple. The time after the Cum Christo weekend is the rest of our lives, which we call the 4th day.This is the time we live our roles as Christ has called us. Many 4th dayers find themselves active in Church ministries in their parishes and communities, wherever they are called to serve and where the need is. 4th dayers are disciples trying to live their lives as Christ taught.
We can’t do it alone. We need God, and we also need others. The Cum Christo community offers ways to accomplish this with small (prayer) groups, Ultreyas (gathering of small groups), and Cum Christo Renewal weekends. Cum Christo Renewal weekends are a great opportunity for 4th dayers to re-commit their lives to Christ.
