St. Ann’s soup kitchen is a facility attached to St. Ann’s Cathedral in Great Falls that furnishes FREE meals to the poor year-round. The floor under the facility buckled this spring from underground water disruption closing the facility until repairs can be accomplished.
In 2015 the soup kitchen served 9,123 men, women and children hot meals and companionship each Friday in addition to serving another 8,768 takeout meals for those in need for another day.
On July 11, 2016, the Knights of Columbus Council #1493 held a benefit breakfast at their KC Hall and through the efforts of the Knights and with the help of some of the St Ann’s volunteers, they were able to present Father Oliver Doyle (pastor of the St Ann’s Cathedral) with a check to assist with kitchen repairs, renovation and up-grades in the amount of $ 2,354.12
With this donation, as well as many other private and community contributions, the hope is that the Soup Kitchen will be able to speedily overcome any external review requirements and issues to re-open its services in the near future. Donations are being accepted until the restoration is complete.
