By Fr. Daniel J. Wathen, Pastor of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church

St. Jude Thaddeus School welcomes Mr. Mike Haugen back home, where his teaching career began. Haugen has accepted the position of principal for the upcoming 2018-2019 academic year.

Mike Haugen and his wife Denise took a leap of faith and returned home to Havre after being away for many years. While away, he was a teacher, coach and administrator at Gonzaga Preparatory School in Spokane, Washington, while Mrs. Haugen taught at three different parochial grade schools. Mr. Haugen brings with him 33 years of Catholic education experience. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Montana State University – Northern, and a Masters degree in Educational Administration from Whitworth University.

Haugen was blessed with the opportunity to service St. Jude Thaddeus Parish and School as both a teacher and a coach for five years at the beginning of his educational career. His formative years at St. Jude Thaddeus School were the foundation in Catholic education, and the genesis of his desire to return home. The desire for an education of the whole person, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually, is at the center of Mr. Haugen’s educational beliefs.
Doing everything for the greater glory of God is at the root of his being as well, as the key to the education of the children he serves. We welcome home Mr. Haugen with great joy.
