Family Columbarium
2020 was an eventful year at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Sections B & C are almost 100% full and the new columbarium we received has 16 out of 80 niches already spoken for. Sections K-2 & K-4 are brand new monument sections for family gravesites and are being sold for current and future burial arrangements. Individual family columbaria are piquing the interest of many people as it is a unique choice for families that prefer a private gravesite for above ground interment of cremated remains. We would like to extend a big thank you to Linda Colenso and Robin Verzuh for their volunteer hours at Mount Olivet reconciling the cemetery records.
In consideration of the Covid-19 restrictions, Memorial Day Mass at the McLaughlin Chapel was cancelled. Graveside services, however, have been well attended because of the ability to properly social distance. This has been a blessing for the families whose loved ones passed away at a time when funerals were being limited. In June, we had our first funeral in the chapel. It was truly a beautiful service.
Calvary Cemetery finally has a new, permanent, wrought iron style sign at the main entrance, which accurately symbolizes the historic ambience of the cemetery. Thank you to the volunteers of the Madeline Hanning family and the Cemetery Preservation Team from Corpus Christi Catholic Church. They have been instrumental in keeping Calvary looking wonderful. In the summer of 2021, we will have our first burial in Calvary in more than five years. Mount Olivet Cemetery has installed a new cemetery regulation sign at the front entrance and one more will be installed at the south entrance. Calvary will have its own cemetery regulation sign coming soon. Both cemeteries are still accepting donations for unmarked graves, Mount Olivet for unmarked baby graves with no known surviving family members, and Calvary for any unmarked graves with no known surviving family members.
To donate and for questions regarding advanced burial planning, burial options, payment plans etc., please contact Eric Spragg at the Mount Olivet Cemetery Office 406-453-8251.
