For the 2nd year in a row since 1991, Memorial Day Mass is being celebrated in the McLaughlin Chapel located in the center of Mount Olivet Cemetery. Bishop Warfel will be the celebrant and Mass will begin at 10:00am. The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus will also be present, and all are welcome to attend.
Mother’s Day & Memorial Day are fast approaching, and Mount Olivet Cemetery is going to be in full swing. The McLaughlin Chapel will be open Memorial Day through Labor Day Mon.-Fri. from 9:00am to 5:00pm. All are welcome to enter the Chapel and enjoy the stained-glass windows of Sister Trinitas, sit and meditate or just enjoy the environment. Also, In the center of the chapel and in front of the altar, is a beautiful devotional candle stand, donated to Mount Olivet by Catholics for Life, in memory of Fr. Ray Nyquist. Please, feel free to light a candle in memory of a loved one. All donations will go towards purchasing additional candles for future use. If anyone is interring a loved one and would like to schedule the chapel for their committal service, please contact Eric Spragg at the cemetery office. 406-453-8251.
If anyone has any questions about decorating guidelines, there are brochures placed through the cemetery. If further clarification is needed, please contact cemetery staff at 406-453-8251. The main guidelines to be aware of are to make sure that decorations are not glass or of glass type material, no antlers, rebar, rocks, coins, marbles, etc. are to be placed on graves. We ask this because glass breaks and causes harm to people and wildlife, antlers & rebar can flatten tires on equipment and coins, rocks, etc. damage mowers and become flying projectiles that can hit someone, damage buildings or upright monuments, and damage lawn mowers. We want Mount Olivet to be a safe cemetery for everyone.
Anyone interested in pre-planning their burial needs or just have questions, are encouraged to contact Eric Spragg at 406-453-8251. The process isn’t complicated and is very relaxed and flexible. Interest free payment plans are even available. If any school or group is interested in a tour or field trip, to either cemetery, please call Eric as well. Grave location services are available for both Mount Olivet and Calvary cemeteries. Office hours are Mon. – Fri. 8:30-5:00 unless otherwise noted and Saturday by appointment.
